What do I do if an ingredient or country is missing from the PS Impact Score?

This is how you request a missing ingredient or a missing combination of an ingredient and a country.

HowGood’s database is continuously being expanded. Is an ingredient, or a combination of ingredient and country, missing, and does that make a difference for your product? Then you can request it. In this article, you’ll find out when this is worthwhile and how to do it.

When is a request worthwhile?

A request is worthwhile if the ingredient makes up a large part of your product or weighs heavily in its footprint, and the proxy used is clearly not suitable. For ingredients such as water or salt, a request isn’t necessary, because they have hardly any effect on the score.

Step by step

  1. Check your input first. Make sure the English Ingredient Name and the country of origin have been entered correctly; sometimes an addition in Data Entry is enough. See How do I avoid unnecessary proxies in the PS Impact Score?
  2. Send an email to support@psinfoodservice.com. Include the GTIN or article number, the ingredient name and the desired country of origin.
  3. We forward your request. We pass your request on to HowGood’s research team, who assess whether enough reliable data is available to add the ingredient.

Good to know

HowGood’s research usually takes a few weeks. Also, not every combination of ingredient and country can be added. Sometimes there simply hasn’t been any research yet into the emissions and farming methods of a crop in a particular region. In that case, the calculation continues to use the most comparable data.
