# How can I see which data was used to calculate my score?

## In this article, you’ll find out where in My PS you can see which ingredients, percentages and countries of origin were used to calculate your product’s score. We also explain which differences you may come across and which of them really affect the score.

### When do you use this?

For example, when a product’s score is higher or lower than you expected, or when a customer asks what the score is based on.

### Step by step

1. **Open the product in My PS.** Go to the product’s history.
2. **Click a shipment.** You’ll see two lists side by side. **Sent ingredients** shows what you entered, including the English translation. **Received ingredients** shows what was used in the calculation.
3. **Compare shipments.** Use the **Compare** button to put two shipments side by side, so you can see what changed between two calculations.

### Which differences can you come across?

- **A different name.** Your ingredient has been matched to the closest term in the database. Often this is equivalent, such as rapeseed oil and canola oil, but sometimes it’s matched to a similar-looking name that is a completely different product.
- **A different country of origin.** If no country was entered, the origin isn’t clear-cut, or the combination of ingredient and country doesn’t exist in the database, the default country for that ingredient is used.
- **A different percentage.** Missing percentages are estimated, and if an ingredient has several countries, the percentage is divided equally between them. Fixed rules also apply to ingredients below 1% and above 100%, such as water in beer or milk for cheese.
- **A split ingredient.** A compound ingredient, such as a sauce or spice mix, is split according to a standard recipe, if one is available.
- **A more general variant.** If a specific variant doesn’t exist in the database, the general variant is used. Free-range egg yolk, for example, is calculated as “egg yolk”, because farming methods are recorded in the database as quality marks, not as ingredient names.

### What should you check first?

Not every difference changes the score. A different country for water or salt has a negligible effect, but for meat, dairy, oils and cocoa, an incorrect match can change the score considerably. So start with products that have a high or unexpected CO₂ footprint, and with ingredients that weigh heavily in your product.

### Frequently asked questions

**Can I download an overview of all differences for my entire range?**
At the moment, you check this per product in My PS. So start with the products and ingredients that weigh most heavily.

**The score has changed, but my input hasn’t. How is that possible?**
This may be due to an update of HowGood’s calculation method. You can read what has changed in [HowGood: Latest Research Updates](https://latis-help.howgood.com/en/articles/6675773-latest-research-updates).
